KM Cards: A Business Improvement Tool

Recent research indicates that many SME’s have not fully taken on board the challenges of the knowledge economy and are not aware of the benefits that could accrue to their companies through the more effective management of their knowledge.   This is often because:

•  The opportunity cost of involvement in knowledge management programmes is too high to encourage participation
•  There appears to be little relevance between effectively managing knowledge and bottom line performance
•  Consultancy costs for knowledge management support are too high

KM Cards have been developed to specifically meet the needs of SME’s. They

optimise the time available to SME’s, minimise consultant input and provide a flexible input focused on the business priorities and current status of each organisation.

KM Cards enable companies to identify those issues where improved management of knowledge could affect business performance and they point to ways in which organisations can take action to improve effectiveness.

KM Cards can be used within teams or departments in larger organisations and may be supplemented by The Knowledge Quiz. This provides an initial check of where an organisation stands against a wide variety of knowledge management indicators and critical success criteria.
